Brief History

Casmene o Kasmene (from greek: Κασμέναι, Kasmenai) 

The Casmene agriturism is 4 km from Buccheri, and found at the centre of the holding within 45 hectares of seedings and olive groves including vast meadows and picturesque forests. In a similar scenery it is easy for our guests to come across wildlife at sunset: falcons, rabbits, foxes, partridges, woodcocks, coturnici(?).

In this superb valley the river Anapo comes to life “Under Mount Lauro, a mythological creature and a forest of sacred laurel to the history of the origins of Siracusa”.

Here, in fact, we enter in the bowels of ancient Sicily between Siracusa, Ragusa, Catania, we are in the legendary historical context of the fabulous Casmene, third sub-colony of Siracusa of the ancient Greeks, a Mediterranean light to ancient civilization.  In this land, where man appeared from the Ancient Bronze age (1800 AC), there began an archeological dig in collaboration with the Cultural Heritage of Siracusa and SiciliAntica, with suprising results.  Here, at Casmene, where man and guests of history are sacred, Mother Earth wanted to praise our efforts with an immense gift: therapeutic natural mineral water springs enriching the grazing pastures for the animals and enhancing the quality of our products.
